Goit Stock Wood and its hidden waterfalls in Harden, near Bingley, is up for sale.
This much-loved woodland is cherished by locals and visitors alike and is on the market for offers around £195,000.
The wood is a sanctuary for wildlife, including deer, and the Hallas and Harden Becks that run through it are home to trout and grayling.
The valley was shaped during the last ice age, and the natural erosion of gritstone and shale has created several waterfalls, with the 20-foot Goit Stock Waterfall being the most popular.
Andrew Black, director of the rural agency team at Savills in York and handling the sale, says: “This is a unique chance to acquire a historic woodland that includes the famous Goit Stock Waterfall.
This property is likely to attract buyers looking for a landscape with scenic, recreational, and conservation value, and we believe its beauty and calm will appeal to many.”
The current owners, Paul and Julie Davis, are selling the woodland, which is open to the public, as they look towards retirement.
Paul Davis says: “We’ve owned Goit Stock Woods for over 20 years and have made wonderful memories there.
Now it’s time for us to pass the woods on and let someone else enjoy this special part of our local heritage.”
The woodland is set in mostly untouched countryside between the Yorkshire villages of Harden and Cullingworth. Visitors can experience the peaceful atmosphere, with mainly Birch, Oak, Sycamore, and Beech trees filling the area.
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
