Recent visitors to the famous Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye have been left disappointed by their trips and took to social media to share multiple harsh one-star reviews.
One of Scotland’s most popular beauty spots has been criticised by tourists, with some calling it a "nightmare" and comparing it to a crowded "theme park."
The Fairy Pools, located on the Isle of Skye, are a major attraction, featuring stunning rock pools fed by waterfalls from the Cuillin Mountains. Their crystal-clear waters are famous for their beauty, and some locals believe they hold a touch of magic.

However, recent visitors have been unhappy with their experience, complaining about the "expensive" £6 car park fee and saying that the once-magical atmosphere has disappeared.
One visitor left a one-star review, writing: "Completely ruined by mass tourism. What was once a peaceful, atmospheric place full of natural beauty has now turned into a nightmare.
"A wide gravel path scars the landscape. There are people everywhere. The four-mile single-track road leading to it is often clogged with cars and camper vans. The magic is gone. Avoid!"
Another negative review echoed the same concerns: "It no longer feels like a beautiful natural spot—it looks more like a theme park. The dull grey walking path spoils the scenery completely."

However, not everyone agrees with the criticism. Some visitors have praised the improvements, saying they enhance the experience.
One recent five-star review read: "People complain about the £6 parking charge, but we thought it was great value. The car park is well maintained, has good facilities, and the attendant was really friendly."
They continued: "The money goes straight back into the site. They’ve improved the car park, built bridges, and made the walking paths safer.
"We absolutely loved the hike—the mountain and waterfall views were spectacular the entire way. A truly breathtaking experience!"
Another visitor described it as "a stunning part of the world, completely unspoiled and incredible to walk through. Seeing snow on the mountain tops while passing waterfalls was just magical."
A third reviewer agreed, saying: "This place is absolutely beautiful. We had a fantastic time. Just make sure to wear comfy waterproof shoes and bring clothes that will keep you dry!"
