UK city ranked among the 'world's best' to visit in 2025

This UK city has been ranked among the world’s 10 most welcoming cities for 2025, joining destinations in Thailand, Brazil, Italy, and the USA.
According to accommodation site Booking.com, this city is one of the top travel spots globally for the upcoming year.
It is the only UK city to feature in the 13th edition of the Traveller Reviews Awards, sharing the list with locations from across the world.
Often described as a "historic gem," it is praised for its ability to transport visitors back in time.
From exploring Roman ruins to strolling along the scenic River Dee or browsing independent shops, the city offers a truly unique experience.
Booking.com highlights Chester’s captivating mix of Roman, medieval, and Tudor architecture, all beautifully preserved within its ancient city walls.
It also celebrates some of Chester’s top landmarks, including Britain’s largest Roman amphitheatre, the famous Chester Rows, and the stunning 11th-century cathedral with its impressive Gothic design.
The entry also acknowledges Chester’s important role in the English Civil War, with key battles taking place in and around the city.
As visitors wander its cobbled streets, they can uncover layers of history, from ancient fortifications to the charming timber-framed buildings of the Tudor era, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Booking.com also notes Chester’s excellent location, just a 45-minute drive from Manchester and Liverpool, and a little over two hours by train from London, making it an easy and accessible destination for international travellers.
