Two of Europe’s most spacious beaches are only an hour from London

You can hop on a train from King’s Cross and reach these spots in just an hour!

Many beaches seem like the perfect escape on paper, only to be overcrowded and stressful when you actually arrive.

Popular destinations like the Algarve, Ayia Napa, and Ibiza are known as top picks for a relaxing break, but when you can’t find a spot on the sand, it’s far from the peaceful trip you imagined.

Some of Europe’s best-known and most beautiful beaches can get packed and overwhelming.

However, Wizz Air has put together a list of lesser-known, quiet spots that offer a more relaxing beach experience.

The bonus for Brits is that you don’t have to go far to find a spacious seaside escape! Camber Sands in East Sussex, just an hour by train from London, was ranked as the second least crowded beach in Europe.

The airline giant studied beaches across 50 European countries to assess crowd levels and create the rankings.

Using their travel expertise, they calculated how much space each beach offers by measuring its area, dividing by the size of a beach towel, and then dividing by the average daily visitor count.

This gave an estimate of the amount of space each beach provides per person.

With its nearly five miles of sand, Camber Sands offers an impressive 61.1 beach towels’ worth of space per person.

And Camber Sands isn’t the only English beach in Wizz Air’s top 10 least crowded beaches. Brighton, also in East Sussex, ranked 6th and has direct trains from London that get you to the shore in under an hour.

With enough room for 27 beach towels per person, visitors to Brighton can enjoy the pier, pebbled beach, and plenty of food options with lots of space to relax.

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
