The charming little village where no one has moved in a year

This picturesque village, nestled in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, is so special that no one sold their home there in 2024, according to property site Rightmove.

Described on its community website as "as active as you want, as peaceful as you need," this charming village offers a perfect slice of countryside living.

Set within the breathtaking Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, it sits beside the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, where the Caerfanell River and its tributary, Nant Bwrefwr, flow into the nearby River Usk.

The mix of calm canal waters and rushing rivers only adds to the beauty of this stunning landscape.

Everywhere you look, there are mountains, rolling fields, woodlands, and waterfalls stretching into the distance, creating a truly idyllic setting.

While the nearby towns of Brecon, Crickhowell, and Abergavenny provide shops and amenities, the natural wonders of the national park are what truly draw people in.

This part of Wales is a dream for outdoor lovers, offering horse riding, hiking, cycling, and sailing on the Talybont Reservoir, as well as peaceful river walks and paddling routes.

The area is also home to incredible sights, including the magical Blaen y Glyn waterfalls hidden within Talybont Forest.

Talybont-on-Usk has been a place people have called home for thousands of years, dating back to the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. Ancient stone relics still stand in the area, telling the story of its long history.

However, if you’re hoping to move here, you might find it difficult to get a house.

This unique Welsh village is so sought after that not a single home was sold in 2024, according to Rightmove. The last recorded sale was in August 2023, based on the latest Land Registry data.

Rightmove reports that the average house price in Talybont-on-Usk over the past year was £307,256, compared to the national average of £232,430, according to the Principality Building Society. With only a limited number of homes available, properties in the village rarely come onto the market.

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
