The atmospheric hidden gem in Yorkshire that visitors say is better than Stonehenge

Updated: Aug 2

There's no doubt that Stonehenge is arguably one of the UK's most popular tourist attractions.

However, you'll be pleased to know there's another version of the famous structure which can be found tucked away in a woodland much further north, with some visitors saying it's even better!

Even though it was built by local men back in the 1820s with no ceremonial plans in mind, there is still reportedly some mysticism about this hidden gem...

Discover the intriguing Druid’s Temple in England, a fascinating historical site nestled in the heart of Yorkshire.

Despite its name, this remarkable stone circle is not an ancient relic but a 19th-century folly, constructed in the 1820s by William Danby. Designed to mimic prehistoric monuments, Druid’s Temple offers visitors a unique glimpse into the past while showcasing the eccentricities of its creator.

This hidden gem, surrounded by lush woodlands and scenic landscapes, is perfect for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Visitors can explore the impressive stone structures, walk along the serene paths, and even enjoy a picnic in this tranquil setting.

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
