And if you love a bit of excitement while you travel, you’re in luck – this route includes some amazing sights like castles and even a historic battlefield.

Scotland’s Highland Tourist Route was highlighted in new research by InsureandGo, which looked at the most attraction-filled road trips across the globe.

The study worked out how many tourist spots are on each road trip by using an online planner and then divided that number by the total miles of the route, to see which ones offer the most fun and sights per mile.

One of the top-rated drives was the Highland Tourist Route in Scotland, which takes you on a stunning journey from Aberdeen to Inverness, or the other way around.

The 116-mile drive is a must for anyone who loves history, as it features four impressive castles and even a site where a historic battle took place.

Inverness, known as the capital of the Highlands, has a lively cultural scene and is the perfect place to start exploring Loch Ness.

With old castles, whisky distilleries, and sparkling lochs along the way, this drive shows off some of the best views and traditions Scotland has to offer.

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
